Culture and sights
Kirchberg an der Raab Castle: The castle was built from 1704 onwards and features numerous frescoes and stuccowork.
The parish church Kirchberg an der Raab St. Florian was initially a Romanesque building (before 1265) and was replaced by a late Gothic new building from 1510 to 1526. This later underwent numerous baroque extensions and alterations. The church is characterized by late baroque furnishings. In the tower is one of the oldest bells in Styria, which was cast in 1457 by Hans Mitter in Judenburg. During renovation work in the 1970s, a "XIII" was mistakenly added to the dial instead of the "XII" ("12"). Remains of the Tabor can be seen around the church, dating mainly from the time of the Turkish invasions in the 15th century. During renovation works, an ossuary (ossuary, mortuary) was rediscovered, in which the bones of about 500 people were found. These are said to be the skeletons of expelled Protestants from the 1600s. The mortuary was opened only briefly in 2013 and then was to be closed forever.
