Frauental an der Laßnitz is a market town in the district of Deutschlandsberg in Styria. The municipality Frauental an der Laßnitz is located in the Laßnitztal at the mouth of the Wildbach into the Laßnitz.
Culture and sights
Parish church Frauental an der Laßnitz: The church has the patrocinium of the Motherhood of Mary. It was built in 1954, the parish was established in 1958 from parts of the former parishes of Gams, Groß St. Florian and Deutschlandsberg. The altar from the middle of the 17th century comes from the hospital church in Bruck an der Mur, two statues of saints from the 1st half of the 18th century from Osterwitz. The organ was purchased in 1960, the four bells in 1962.
Frauenthal Castle: It is believed to have been built on the site of the Nidrinhof, mentioned in documents in 970, which is said to have been founded around 700 AD from Aquileia, which at that time was carrying out Christian missionary work in the Kingdom of Noricum.
The Filial Church of St. Ulrich am Ulrichsberg was a filial church of Groß St. Florian until 1786 and now belongs to the parish of Deutschlandsberg. It was formerly dedicated to St. Mark, the founder of the Patriarchate of Aquileia and the patron saint of the Republic of Venice.
Chapels are located at the brass factory (a bell was consecrated in 1724), and the Sorger Chapel was built in 1816. Strutz chapel dates from 1846 and was rebuilt in 1975. Village chapels are located in Zeierling, Freidorf, Gleinz and Schamberg.
