The market town of Bad Schwanberg (until March 2020 Schwanberg) is located in the district of Deutschlandberg in western Styria. As part of the Styrian municipal structural reform, it has been merged with the former municipalities of Hollenegg, Gressenberg and Garanas since the beginning of 2015 and continued to use the name Schwanberg until the end of 2019. The basis for this is the Styrian Municipal Structure Reform Act - StGsrG.
