Sankt Veit in der Südsteiermark has been a market town in the district of Leibnitz in Styria since the beginning of 2015. 

Sankt Nikolai ob Draßling was a municipality in Styria. As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria, it was merged with the municipalities of Sankt Veit am Vogau and Weinburg am Saßbach on 1 January 2015. The basis for this was a joint application by these municipalities.The new municipality bears the name Sankt Veit in Southern Styria. Sankt Nikolai ob Draßling is located in the district of Leibnitz in the Austrian province of Styria.
