Ampflwang im Hausruckwald is located on the southern slope of the Hausruckwald, in the valley of the Ampflwangbach, formed by low hill ranges, running from south to north.

Railroad and Mining Museum Ampflwang:
The museum is divided into the mining part, which is mainly located in the former central sorting plant, and the railroad part, which is also called Lokpark Ampflwang. The museum is run by the Austrian Society for Railway History with an extensive collection of locomotives. The Railway and Mining Museum was the main venue for the 2006 Upper Austrian Provincial Exhibition "Coal and Steam". The former Ampflwang railroad is operated as a museum railroad and feeder to the museum during the summer months.
Ampflwang Culture Park:
The Buchleiten coal crusher is located in the center of the park. This was completely rebuilt and transformed from a historically important industrial plant into a modern event center. Vernissages and exhibitions of well-known regional artists take place here. Since 2010, the crusher has also housed the Upper Austrian Provincial Mining Archive (branch of the Upper Austrian Provincial Archive). The archive preserves documents relevant to industrial, economic and social history of Upper Austria. Lignite mining.
