Vöcklabruck is a municipality in the Hausruckviertel region of Upper Austria. The city is the center of the Vöckla-Ager depression, the second most important economic area in Upper Austria. As the seat of the district administration and the district court of Vöcklabruck, it is also an important administrative city, a regionally significant shopping and business city and, as the location of various secondary schools, also a relevant school town.

Culture and sights

    Vöcklabruck city fortifications: the frescoes on the city towers were discovered in the 1960s and date from about 1502 by the Tyrolean court painter Jörg Kölderer, who also painted the frescoes on the coat-of-arms tower in Innsbruck (which had already been destroyed in 1766).
    Dörflkirche (Ägidiuskirche): Baroque church worth seeing, a central building with a cross ground plan built in 1688-1691 by Carlo Antonio Carlone, decorated with stucco by Giovanni Battista Carlone (his brother) and with frescoes by Carlo Antonio Bussi; on the left Vöcklaufer.

    Upper Austrian Regional Garden Show 2007: from April 27 to October 14 under the motto "Where gardens build bridges".
    Heimathaus Vöcklabruck: The museum offers a cross-section of rural and middle-class life and living in the region. Furthermore, an extensive collection of the remains of pile dwellings from the Attersee area can be seen, and a separate memorial room is dedicated to the composer Anton Bruckner.
