Steinbach an der Steyr is a municipality in the Traunviertel in the district of Kirchdorf in Upper Austria with 1971 inhabitants. Steinbach an der Steyr
lies at an altitude of 381 m in the Traunviertel in the Steyrtal valley about 20 km from the town of Steyr. The oldest finds of human settlement date back to the
the Neolithic period. Traces from Roman times can be found in the surrounding communities; the Celts of the Kingdom of Noricum lived here at that time.
The town has belonged to the province of Upper Austria since 1918.
