Micheldorf in Upper Austria (until 1951 just Micheldorf) is a market town in Upper Austria in the district of Kirchdorf im Traunviertel with 6012 inhabitants. 
The competent court district is Kirchdorf an der Krems. Micheldorf in Upper Austria lies at an altitude of 465 meters above sea level in the Traunviertel. 
At 1604 meters, the Kremsmauer is the highest elevation. The Krems has its source in Micheldorf. Micheldorf was first mentioned in documents in the 12th century as Michilindorf 
mentioned in a document. The word Michel means 'great' in Middle High German.  

Culture and sights

Altpernstein Castle from the 11th century, later extended, essentially preserved as it was built. Parts of the castle are freely accessible: the 
baroque castle chapel, the castle dungeon, the knights' hall.
