Neumarkt am Wallersee is an urban municipality in the northeast of the Austrian state of Salzburg. Located northeast of the provincial capital Salzburg, the municipality consists of twelve individual villages and is partly rural in structure. Neumarkt is considered a focal point of the region, and the service sector is also economically dominant. The former market town was elevated to the status of a municipality in 2000.

Protestant Rupertus Church
The village of Sommerholz and the baroque daughter church of St. George there are located on the Via Nova pilgrimage route. Every two years a St. George ride takes place there. The Austrian section of the Way of St. James also passes through Neumarkt am Wallersee.

Sports and leisure
The town has several sports facilities (soccer field, tennis courts, volleyball court), and on Wallersee there are two lidos as well as a surfing school and a marina. There is also the possibility of boat and bicycle rental. Furthermore, there is a camping site at the lake. There passes a hiking trail leading around the entire lake. There are also hiking possibilities in the southern mountain area. The Mozart cycle path also passes through Neumarkt, a cycle path that leads from Salzburg and the Flachgau region through parts of Upper Bavaria to Northern Tyrol.
Neumarkt also has a share in the Wallersee-Wenger Moor European nature reserve located on the northern shore of Lake Wallersee.
