Henndorf costume: The name Carl Mayr is associated with the creation of the Henndorf costume. Around 1900, the effort was to renew old traditional costumes. Carl Mayr set decisive impulses for this. He used old cuts and reshaped them. These were included in the Salzburger Trachtenmappe. As early as 1935, a first Salzburg Trachtenmappe was published, which was supplemented in 1943 by Trachtenbilder für Salzburg in four folders Unsere Tracht. In the Trachtenmappe I, the following can be read:
"More than 40 years ago, the academic painter Carl Mayr from Henndorf created a traditional costume based on old models from the Flachgau region, which became very popular as an expression of popular feeling and was given the name Henndorfer after the place where it was created. It was made for the first time by Mrs. Judith Fürst, née Gassner from Sighartstein."
The designs of the Henndorf men's costume, also by Carl Mayr, were adopted both by the Lanz company (one of the first Austrian traditional costume clothing stores) and by the renowned Salzburg leather clothing company Johann Jahn (today Jahn-Markl).
There are three choirs in Henndorf: the St. Vitus Chamber Choir, which among other things helps to organize church services and regularly gives concerts, and the Mama Mia Choir, as well as the Henndorfer Singkreis, which is an all-women's club.
