Schwarzach im Pongau is a market town in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the state of Salzburg of Austria.
Culture and sights
Schernberg Castle: 11th-century castle, rebuilt around 1550 into a castle with Renaissance elements; Gothic elements from the castle are still preserved, especially in the chapel.
Cemetery chapel and wall: The chapel is a late baroque building with a gable roof and a small ridge turret.
Former Schwarzach Mission House: built in 1741 by the Benedictines of the University of Salzburg to prevent a renewed flare-up of the Protestant movement within the mountains.
Parish church Schwarzach also built after the Protestant expulsion in Rococo, according to plans of Father Bernhard Stuart (architect of Leopoldskron Castle)
