Leibnitz is a city in the Austrian state of Styria and the district capital of the district of the same name. As part of the municipal structure reform in Styria, it has been merged with the former municipalities of Kaindorf an der Sulm and Seggauberg since 2015, and continues to use the name Leibnitz. Leibnitz is located in southern Styria, about 33 km south of Graz between the rivers Mur and Sulm in the Leibnitzer Feld. The highest elevation in the municipal area is the 496 m above sea level Kreuzkogel above the Sulmtal.

    Art project Crash at the main square of Leibnitz: in 2013, a temporary art object was installed as part of the anniversary 100 years of the city of Leibnitz. The artist Werner Reiterer made a car seemingly crash into the Mariensäule. The action cost 30,000 euros and was ended prematurely after the car fell victim to an arsonist on November 17.

    The 381 m high Frauenberg with Frauenberg church and the temple museum is of archaeological importance, since due to findings a settlement could be proven already since the Neolithic Age. The temple district is described as one of the most prominent testimonies of Roman culture in Austria and has been scientifically studied.

    On the Kreuzkogel, in addition to the lookout tower built in 1849 on the summit, is the Silberbergwarte, a few meters high 1871 solid brick lookout point, which is located north of the viticulture school on the wine educational trail.[9]
