The castle was occupied from 1405 to 1408 during the Appenzeller War by the Bund ob dem See and is thus one of the few castles that were not destroyed by the Appenzellers. Today, the castle ruins belong to the municipality of Götzis - the ring wall was restored in 1970 as well as in 1974/1975. The castle is a landmark of the village.
Sonderbergschlösschen: built around 1561 by the canon Friedrich Sandholzer
Jonas-Schlössle: built in 1584 by Lienhart Jonas von Buch und Udelberg, the small castle is the former noble residence of the Jonas family. A wooden coffered ceiling from the 16th century can still be found in the building. The building was extensively renovated and restored between 2001 and 2004 and since then offers space for readings, chamber concerts, exhibitions, seminars, conferences and other events.
