Eben am Achensee is a municipality with 3381 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in the district of Schwaz in Tyrol (Austria). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Schwaz.Eben is situated in the Achental valley, on the shores of Lake Achensee (above the Unterinntal valley) and is the largest municipality in the district of Schwaz in terms of area.
Culture and sights
Catholic parish church Eben am Achensee and pilgrimage church to St. Notburga: The church with late Gothic choir and north tower (16th century) stands on the foundation walls of a Romanesque predecessor just outside the village center. From 1736 to 1738, the Schwaz architect Jakob Singer added a baroque nave. The interior is also baroque. The ceiling frescoes by Christoph Anton Mayr (restored in 1899), surrounded by stucco work, depict scenes from the lives of local saints, including the characteristic sickle miracle. The bones of St. Notburga are kept in a glass shrine at the high altar.
