The Hauptplatz merges to the north into the Kirchenplatz and to the east into the Schiffmeisterplatz. It represents the center of the city and slopes down to Schiffmeisterplatz. In its center is the city fountain from 1613 with the figure of a knight armed with shield and sword - popularly called "Kilian" - which is a pillory figure.
