Obersiebenbrunn is a market town with 1775 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in the district of Gänserndorf, Lower Austria.
Culture and sights
Obersiebenbrunn Castle: The early Baroque castle was once owned by Prince Eugene, it was acquired by the Coptic Church in 2001, renovated and a monastery was built in it. In addition to the main building, the palace park, the baroque garden pavilion, richly decorated with paintings on the inside, and several outbuildings are protected monuments. Since 2014 there is also a Coptic museum there.
Obersiebenbrunn Catholic Parish Church of the Assumption: Baroque church built between 1722 and 1724 under Cardinal Prince-Archbishop Sigismund von Kollonitz. From the church history: According to the archbishop's schematism, the church existed already before 1333. The first church was built around 1250. In 1722, due to dilapidation, the church was demolished and rebuilt. Inauguration in 1724. The parish registers date back to 1657. The list of parishioners goes back without gaps to 1654 - with gaps to before 1544. After the delivery of the bells in the First and Second World War they had to be completed in 1924 and 1957. According to oral tradition, the crypt of the old church is still located under the church.
