Regular events
Glöcklerlauf
On the evening of January 5, the tradition-conscious male population of Traunkirchen meets annually for the Glöcklerlauf. Various mostly age-grouped "passes" run with colorful Glöckler caps illuminated from the inside in a star shape to the general meeting point, where old Christmas and Nativity songs are sung at 10 pm.
Antlasssingen
Traunkirchen celebrates Holy Week. At 9 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, a large number of believers parade through the village for the "Antlasssingen". Antlass is fear, fear of death of Christ. At twelve different points, the people are exhorted to remember Christ's suffering and to refrain from sin. A precentor sings the hour, and the faithful join in, commemorating the stations of Jesus' Passion. After returning from the last round at 3:00, they sing the "24 hours," the progression of Christ's passion in a 16 strophic, ballad-like song.
Corpus Christi procession at Lake Traunsee
The bells announce the beginning of the procession, and the local music plays the Eucharistic hymn Pange lingua.
The course of the Corpus Christi fleet, consisting of the main boat, the "Himmelsfuhre", the counter-ferry, and numerous boats, then proceeds, singing and praying, to the four stations of the procession in the Winkelbucht, at the height of the monastery, south of the Johannesberg, and at the war memorial. At each station the priest proclaims the Gospel and gives the blessing.
The first oil painting of a Corpus Christi procession dates back to 1830, and the original can be found in the Maritime Museum in Greinburg.
Wood market
Always on the first weekend in September the wood market takes place in Traunkirchen. In the past it was held for a long time in the Spitzvilla area, but for some years now it has been held directly in the town center.
Traunkirchen pub music
Traunkirchen hosts traditional folk music from May to October with the aim of reviving regional folk music.
