Culture and sights
Moorbad Gmös: The Moorbad Gmös is one of the few alpine foreland moors in Upper Austria. It was formed after the Mindel ice age from a dead ice hole. In 1987, the Gmöser Moor with an extension of 3.4 hectares was declared a nature reserve by the province of Upper Austria. Since then, rare animal and plant species can be observed along an idyllic circular path. In 2002, the soon to be 100-year-old spa became the setting for an episode of the television series Schlosshotel Orth.

Austrian Papermaking Museum: The museum was built in 1997 in the old factory halls of the Steyrermühl paper mill (1868-1988) and occupies an area of 3,300 m² with the event rooms. The main attractions are a handmade paper mill, where visitors can make their own paper, and a working replica of the world's first paper machine - patented by Nicolaus-Louis Robert in 1799. The papermaking museum was the venue for the Upper Austrian regional exhibition "Salzkammergut" in 2008. Included in the papermaking museum are a fire department museum with exhibits over 100 years old, showing the development of the six Laakirchen fire departments, and a printing museum on the history of printing.
