The new municipality of St. Marein-Feistritz was created in 2015 by uniting the municipalities of St. Marein bei Knittelfeld and Feistritz bei Knittelfeld. Scenically beautifully situated at the southeastern foothills of the Seckau Alps, it spreads over the Mareiner Boden to the Mur River. Due to the direct connection to the S36 Murtal expressway, St. Marein-Feistritz is a popular residential community in the rural area, which has about 2000 inhabitants and measures 70 km². The numerous associations in the municipality offer a wide range of cultural, sports and leisure activities. The natural area offers immediate local recreation. Child care is a top priority. Two kindergartens, one of which is open all day and all year round, offer reliable care. A joint elementary school offers secondary education.
The parish church of St. Marein "Maria im Paradiese" does not have its name for nothing. Founded around 1140, it shines from afar in front of the panorama of the Seckau Alps from a hill. It received its Gothic appearance around 1440. The frescoes inside the parish church are remarkable. The first church foundation in our parish goes back to the Lords of Traisen. They built the first church "St. Johann zu Feistritz" around 1070.
Sankt Marein-Feistritz is a municipality in the district of Murtal in Styria since 2015.
