Culture and sights
St. Ägidius Catholic Parish Church: a Gothic staggered church with a high roof on the northern edge of the old town. The choir, sacristy and southern aisle were built in the 2nd half of the 14th century. Originally, the church had double towers; the northern one was removed during the profound renovation in the 17th century. In 1846, the nave was vaulted in the neo-Gothic style. From 1870 to 1903 another profound renovation took place. Among other things, the tower and the western facade were rebuilt.
Augustinian church of the former Augustinian monastery: the monastery was founded in 1338 by Otto the Merry, the church was rebuilt from 1745 to 1773 by an unknown master. The baroque furnishings, including the high altar fresco "The Last Supper", are by Franz Anton Maulbertsch. The tower was built in 1898 by Max Kropf.
Korneuburg City Hall: Built under Max Kropf, opened in 1895, the facade features statues of Emperor Franz Josef and Duke Albrecht I, as well as the coats of arms of the then crown lands and other important Lower Austrian cities. Inside, there is a coat of arms ceiling, which exclusively shows coats of arms of bourgeois families of the 15th/16th century, among them the first mayor of the city, Andreas Ramler (1406), and Niklas Engelgershauser, who rendered services to the rapid reconstruction of the city after the fire of 1417.
Town tower: The town hall also includes the late Gothic town tower, which was built between 1440 and 1447. When Count Puchheim regained the town for Austria during the Thirty Years' War, the tower was severely damaged. During the renovation in 1890, it was remodeled, giving it its current appearance. On the four main sides you can see the Babenberg shield, the Lower Austrian coat of arms, the imperial coat of arms and the town coat of arms. Its main function was to quickly locate enemies and fire.
Pied Piper Fountain: Erected in 1898 in front of the town hall as a replacement for two pump fountains. With the statue of the Pied Piper, executed by the sculptor Emanuel Pendl, an old local legend about the events of 1646, the end of the Swedish siege, was preserved in memory. The fountain itself was created in a monumental manner entirely from Kaiserstein, the white, hard Kaiserstein quarry stone.
Korneuburg Synagogue (Ruin): Built between 1306 and 1325, confiscated in 1420 and then put to various uses (e.g. as a granary), since 1980 unt
