Grödig is a market town in the province of Salzburg in the district of Salzburg-Umgebung in Austria. Within the Salzburger Land, Grödig is located in Flachgau on the southwestern edge of the Salzburg Basin. It is located at the foot of the Untersberg mountain, at the Salzburg-Süd junction of the Tauern freeway.

    Untersberg with its wealth of caves (in particular the Kolowratshöhle on the Dopplersteig below the Zeppezauerhaus) and its well-known legends, cable car from St. Leonhard
    Except for the settlement area, the entire municipal area belongs to the Untersberg Landscape and Plant Protection Area (LSG 51, [3] PSG 1 [4]), which is part of a protection network via the Bavarian Biosphere Reserve Berchtesgadener Land (adjacent development zone), which continues into Pongau and Pinzgau and to the northwest.
