Gols (Hungarian Gálos, Croatian Gojza) is a market and wine-growing community in the district of Neusiedl am See in Burgenland in Austria. The place name is derived either from the head of the Bissener, Gal or from St. Gallus, who is associated with viticulture.
Culture and sights
Catholic parish church Gols: The church from the 12th and 13th centuries was initially part of a fortification as a fortified church.
Protestant Parish Church Gols: The church was built in 1818 as an unadorned towerless structure and extended in 1888 with architect Ludwig Schöne adding a tower in the neo-Romanesque style.
Weinkulturhaus Gols: The oldest preserved house in the municipality serves as a cultural center, vinotheque and Erwin Moser museum.
