Neusiedl am See (Hungarian: Nezsider, Croatian: Niuzalj) is a town with 8657 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in Burgenland in the district of Neusiedl am See in Austria. The shopping and school town of Neusiedl am See is also a district suburb (Burgenland term for district capital). Neusiedl am See, situated at 133 m above sea level, is located on the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl between the foothills of the Leitha Mountains and the Parndorfer Platte.
Culture and sights
Parish Church of Neusiedl am See: The church, Gothic in its core, was baroqueized. The fisherman's pulpit is from the 18th century.
Holy Trinity Column: erected in 1713/14 by the Kaisersteinbruch master stonemason Elias Hügel from Kaiserstein.
Christ's Column (1609)
Tabor Ruin: ruin located on the Taborberg, probably built in the 16th century as a military lookout tower against the Turks, later southern terminus of the Kuruzzenschanze (Old Redoubt) in the fight against the rebels under Franz Rákóczi.
