Adnet is a municipality in Salzburger Land in the district of Hallein in Austria. The municipality is located east of Hallein in the Tennengau region of Salzburg Land.
Culture and sights
Interested visitors can learn interesting facts about the formation, extraction and use of the noble stone in the Adnet Marble Museum and on a hike through the Adnet quarries, via the Marble Trail.
Adnet marble: one of the most important natural stones in Europe in terms of art history. The Adnet marbles are the carriers of the entire Gothic Austro-Bavarian funerary sculpture.
Adnet quarries: These are located right next to the village of Adnet. They have cultural-historical significance throughout Europe. In terms of earth history, the representability of the Triassic-Jurassic boundary is a geological peculiarity.
Marble Museum Adnet: The museum was founded in 1992 Focal points of the museum are: Marble extraction, types of marble and fossils from Adnet, processing and use in buildings and monuments since Roman times.
Marble Trail Adnet: The hike takes about 2 hours and is also suitable for inexperienced hikers. For guests who stay overnight in an Adnet accommodation, the hike is free!
Schmiedemuseum: Located on the Marmorweg near the Schmiedebuch and is part of the Adnet Marble Museum.
