Völkermarkt (Slovenian Velikovec) is a municipality in the district of the same name in the Austrian state of Carinthia. 

Tourism

Tourism is an important pillar of Völkermarkt's economy. The town hosts over 20,000 guests annually. Significant for this are the bathing lakes Klopeiner See and Turnersee southwest of Völkermarkt (which are no longer located on the municipal territory).

Possible sports and recreational activities for guests include fishing at the Völkermarkt Reservoir, swimming in the Völkermarkt Adventure Swimming Pool and other types of water sports, cycling (the 366 km Drau Cycle Path passes by the outskirts of the town) and hiking (the Eisenwurzen Trail runs through the municipality).
