Ramsau am Dachstein is a municipality in the Gröbming Expository in the district of Liezen, in the Austrian province of Styria. With about 6,500 guest beds, it is the largest tourist community in Styria. Ramsau is located in the northwest of the province of Styria, at the border triangle with Upper Austria and the province of Salzburg. The high plateau surrounding Ramsau lies at an altitude of 1100 to 1700 m above sea level, immediately adjacent to the southern walls of the Dachstein massif. The Dachstein Glacier, located to the north, with its year-round ski area (Dachstein Glacier Ski Area) is the easternmost glacier in the Alps.

Several old farms make Ramsau quite worth seeing for those interested in culture. A water mill (Rössing) dating from the 18th century can be visited.

Culinary specialties
In Ramsau are the so-called "evangelische Krapfen" can be found (doughnuts prepared with wheat flour, yeast and butter; the wheat was able to thrive better on the sun-favored high plateau of the predominantly Protestant area), which are more often eaten in the sweet variety, with honey, apricot jam or powdered sugar, whereas the "katholische Krapfen" (prepared from rye flour without yeast and egg; on the shady northern slopes of the Niedere Tauern in the Catholic Enns Valley, only rye could be grown) are eaten mainly in the hearty variety, e.g., with sauerkraut, powdered sauerkraut, or with a variety of other dishes. e.g. with sauerkraut, potatoes or sprinkled with Steirerkas.
