Obertraun is a municipality in the Upper Austrian Salzkammergut in the district of Gmunden in the Traunviertel.

Since 1997 the area around Obertraun and Hallstatt belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Obertraun is located at an altitude of 513 m in the Traunviertel region on Lake Hallstatt.
