Oetz is a municipality in the district of Imst (judicial district Silz) in Tyrol in Austria.Oetz is located in a widening on the first stage of the Ötztal. The village, a cluster village, has a particularly mild climate due to its basin location at the foot of the 3007 m high Acherkogel, which is why it is sometimes called "Merano of North Tyrol", like the district town of Imst. To the west of the main village flows the Ötztaler Ache.

Culture and sights

    The late Gothic parish church was extended in Baroque style.
    In the village center are historic inns partly with facade paintings.
    The tower museum was awarded the Museum Prize of the Province of Tyrol in 2004.

Leisure and sports

    Kayak championships: Oetz is often the venue of kayak championships such as the Sick LIne, which take place on the Ötztaler Ache.
    The Ötztaler Ache is commercially navigated with rafts.
    Bicycle: Oetz is the starting point for the west-east crossing of the Kühtaisattel, which is very demanding by bicycle.

Lake Piburg
A popular excursion destination is the nearby Piburger See. The 800 m long, 250 m wide and up to 25 m deep lake is the result of a landslide. The natural body of water represents the largest lake in the Ötztal. With up to 23 °C it is also the warmest mountain lake in Tyrol.
