Oberwang is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Vöcklabruck in the Salzkammergut region. The municipality belonged to the judicial district Mondsee until 1 July 2013, since then to the judicial district Vöcklabruck.

Culture and sights

    The parish church of Oberwang is dedicated to St. Kilian. The high altar (1707-1708) by Meinrad Guggenbichler depicts the murder of St. Kilian.
    The Konrad church from 1470 is dedicated to St. Martin. The altar was probably made by Hans Waldburger. In the church you can see that board on which the murdered abbot Konrad was to be burned. The artistic decoration of the church with stained glass windows and burial chapels with frescoes was done by the artist Lydia Roppolt, whose concern was the preservation and decoration of the Konrad church.
    Oberwang is the hometown of the Fideler Bauern. The operetta of the same name was composed by Leo Fall based on an encounter with the "Fidelen" farmer - Josef Schossleitner.
    In the summer of 2008, the Lebensroas theme trail was opened.
