Markt Sankt Martin (Hungarian Sopronszentmárton, Szentmárton; Croatian Sveti Martin) is a market town in the district of Oberpullendorf in Burgenland in Austria.
The municipality is located in central Burgenland. Parts of the municipality belong to the Landseer Berge Nature Park. The former volcano Pauliberg and its surroundings (Landseer
Bay) have been geologically investigated. Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hilltop settlement
castle on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg. During Roman times, today's Markt Sankt Martin was located in the province of Pannonia. The village belonged - like the whole of Burgenland
- to the Kingdom of Hungary (German West Hungary) until 1920/21.
