Loosdorf is a market town with 3865 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in the district of Melk in Lower Austria. Loosdorf is located in the valley of the Pielach in the Lower Austrian Alpine foothills on the southern edge of the Dunkelsteinerwald in the Mostviertel.

Parish Church Loosdorf: The church was originally built in the 17th century as a Protestant church; in the course of the Counter-Reformation, however, it was taken over by the Catholic Church, which it still serves today.
Loosdorf High School: Hans Wilhelm von Losenstein built it around 1574 as a Protestant high school "for the (noble and non-noble) youth". In 1627 it was closed by Ferdinand II in the course of the Counter-Reformation.
Special features
The Jenische language, a variety of the German language, gained some currency in Loosdorf, especially in the neighboring district of Sitzenthal.
