Innsbruck (pronounced Innschbrugg in the local Bavarian-Austrian dialect) is a large city in western Austria and the capital of the state of Tyrol. Its name refers to the bridge over the Inn River. The city's landmark is the Golden Roof.
With 130,585 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022), Innsbruck is the most populous city in Tyrol and also the fifth largest city in Austria (after Vienna, Graz, Linz and Salzburg). Around 300,000 people live in its metropolitan area.[2] In addition, around 30,000 students of Innsbruck University, Innsbruck Medical University and other people have a secondary residence here; around 3,000 overnight stays were booked daily by city tourists in 2019.
