Hohenthurn (Slovenian: Straja vas) is a bilingual municipality with 897 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2023) in the district of Villach-Land in Austria, in the
federal state of Carinthia. The municipality of Hohenthurn is located in the Lower Gailtal valley and on the northern slopes of the Carnic Alps in southwestern Carinthia. In the north
Gail forms the municipal boundary to the north and the Gailitz to the east. From the 10th to the 6th century BC, there was a Hallstatt hilltop settlement near Dreulach.
Later, a Roman defense tower stood there, which was destroyed around 200 AD. Hohenthurn was first mentioned in a document in 1253 as Göströsdorf.
