St. Stefan im Gailtal is a municipality in the district of Hermagor in Carinthia. St. Stefan is located on both sides of the Gail River in the Lower Gail Valley between the main chain of the Carnic Alps with the Oisternig (2052 m) in the south and the Gailtal Alps in the north.

Culture and sights

    The parish church of St. Stefan, first mentioned in a document in 1275 and giving its name to the village and the municipality, was originally an aristocratic church.
