Arnoldstein (Slovenian: Podklošter, Under the Monastery) is a market town in the Gail Valley in Carinthia (Austria). The municipality, accessible via the A2 or southern railroad, is located in the immediate vicinity of the border triangle between Italy, Slovenia and Austria. The market town of Arnoldstein borders on the Karawanken and the Carnic Alps and thus forms a three-country corner between Italy, Slovenia and Austria on the summit of the Ofen, which is accessible by mountain railroad. It is the only intersection of the three great European cultural areas, the Germanic, the Romanic and the Slavic.
