Culture and sights
Catholic Parish Church Grünau im Almtal St. James the Elder: The baroque parish church St. James the Elder from 1695 with its high altar, which comes from the collegiate church Kremsmünster, is one of the cultural sights. The group of figures in the upper part of the Baroque altar is by the Nuremberg Renaissance sculptor Hans Peisser (testified by information), a pupil or successor of Veit Stoß, and was completed in 1531. It depicts Christ as Redeemer with Saints Benedict and Agapitus and is one of the few monumental Renaissance masterpieces north of the Alps.
Nature: Grünau has a lot to offer in terms of landscape. The main attractions include the Almsee lake and the surrounding protected landscape area with its fascinating flora and fauna, the Ödsee lakes, the Cumberland Wildlife Park and the Kasbergalm pasture.
Regular events
Echo Blowing: From the end of June to the beginning of September, an echo blowing event takes place every Wednesday at Almsee, where music is played with brass instruments using the natural echo.
Brass festival: Another cultural highlight is the annual brass festival, in which brass groups from all over Austria participate.
