The municipality of Gablitz is located about five kilometers west of the Vienna city limits in the Vienna Woods in Lower Austria.
The center of all hikes around Gablitz is the Troppbergwarte on the 542 m high mountain of the same name. From here you have an overwhelming view all the way to the Wachau, to Tulln, to Vienna and to the foothills of the Alps with Schneeberg and Ötscher.
The Troppberg is a natural jewel and recreational area in the living region Biosphärenpark Wienerwald . The forests are no longer used for forestry and form one of 36 core zones in the biosphere park. These "primeval forests of tomorrow" are retreat areas for many animal and plant species. Here, nature is allowed to develop freely.
