Thörl is a market town in the judicial district of Bruck an der Mur and in the political district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag in Upper Styria (Austria). As part of the municipal structure reform in Styria, Thörl was merged with the municipalities of Etmißl and St. Ilgen on January 1, 2015.

Culture and sights

    Thörl Castle: At the entrance to the village is Thörl Castle, which used to serve as the "gate" to the village. Hence the name of the village. The castle belongs to the Hempel-Hubersting Private Foundation.
    The ruins of Schachenstein Castle are located in the municipal area of Thörl.
    At the foot of the Schachenstein ruins lies the so-called "Old House", which is now used by the Thörl Landsknechten for events.
