Eferding is a town in the Hausruckviertel region of Upper Austria. Eferding is one of the oldest cities in Austria (city law since 1222). Eferding is located at an altitude of 271 m in the Eferding Basin in the Hausruckviertel, about 2 km from the Danube.
Culture and sights
Eferding Parish Church ('Eferdinger Dom'): built between 1451 and 1505, late Gothic; three-nave hall church, also called Eferding Cathedral due to its mightiness
Starhemberg Castle: Starhemberg Castle dates back to the 13th century (prior to this, mention of a castle at this location in 1167). Design of the garden front in 1784. Initially owned by the Schaunbergs, from 1559 by the Starhembergs, it is still the seat of the head of the Starhembergs. The castle is located on the north side of the town square between the parish church and the old town moat (today the Middle Moat). The castle houses two museums, the Princely Starhemberg Family Museum and the Town Museum.
Fürstlich Starhembergisches Familienmuseum and Stadtmuseum: The Stadtmuseum displays, among other things, a table from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Vienna apartment, where he composed 'The Magic Flute'. The two museums are located in Starhemberg Castle.
Schifer'sches Erbstift: hospital donated by Rudolf the Schifer (where both the sick were cared for and the needy were admitted), located on Schiferplatz. and Spitalskirche:
The hospital church of the Blessed Mary was built in 1325. The asymmetrical staggered hall consisting of a nave and a narrow left aisle is Gothic at its core, with a high Gothic net vault in the Magdalenenkapelle. The frescoes were made around 1430. The high altar is from 1623. The has a facade tower with an eight-sided pyramidal helmet.
Town Square with the Holy Trinity Column: The town square with the Holy Trinity Column and the town houses is one of the most beautiful squares in Upper Austria. The town houses, almost unchanged since the Middle Ages, consist of a preserved late Gothic core with Baroque and Classicist facades.
Lebzelterhaus Vogl: The Lebzelterhaus Vogl is located on the town square No. 27; since 1683 wax maker and Lebzelterhaus in the family business, today café confectionery with its own production; originally consisting of two Gothic houses, the facades were transformed over time to a unified Baroque front

Bräuhaus Cultural Center: historic building, first mentioned in a document in 1597/98; formerly part of Starhemberg Castle and now, after extensive renovation, a cultural center
