Dobersberg is a market town in the district of Waidhofen an der Thaya in Lower Austria. Dobersberg is located in the northern Waldviertel in Lower Austria
and is crossed by the German Thaya. To the north-west of Reinolz and Pengershof lies the Böhmische Saß peak, which protrudes into the Czech Republic, with
the Hoher Stein (679 m). At the northern foot of the mountain, the Dreiländerstein marks the historical border triangle between Austria, Bohemia and Moravia.
Dobersberg was first mentioned in a document around 1230 in the "Prima Fundatio", the tithe book of St. Georgien Abbey (now Herzogenburg Abbey).
However, today's Dobersberg is unlikely to have been the Dobersberg of 1230. Research into local desolation has identified the original Dobersberg in the area of the
of the school and today's cemetery. The village was initially important as a river crossing and as the intersection of two trade routes.
