Bregenz (lat. Brigantium) is the capital of the Austrian state of Vorarlberg and capital of the district of the same name. The city has the larger of the two Austrian ports on Lake Constance, and is a railroad junction as well as a sports and cultural center. In terms of population, Bregenz is the third largest city in Vorarlberg after Dornbirn and Feldkirch, but the agglomeration is more than twice the size of the city itself.

Bregenz Festival
The Bregenz Festival is an internationally awarded cultural festival and attracts well over 100,000 people to Bregenz each year (2011: 166,453) with a budget of around 20 million euros.

Jazz Festival
The Bregenz Jazz Festival has been held every June at Kornmarktplatz since 2014, after the New Orleans Festival, which was held for several days in early summer in downtown Bregenz from 1999 to 2013, was no longer supported by initiator Markus Linder.

Bregenz Spring
Bregenzer Frühling is a dance festival that has been held every year between March and May at the Festspielhaus since 1987.
