Culture and sights
Catholic fortified church of St. Michael: Two kilometers upstream, in the cadastral municipality of St. Michael, is the fortified church of St. Michael from around 1500. The parish of St. Michael is even 500 years older and is considered the oldest parish in the Wachau.
Catholic parish church Weißenkirchen in der Wachau Mariä Himmelfahrt: The village is dominated by the mighty Gothic fortified church from the 14th century, which also gives its name and whose stately tower was built in 1531 for protection against the Turks. The interior mixes late Gothic and Baroque styles.
Catholic Parish Church Wösendorf St. Florian
Teisenhoferhof: Also worth seeing is the magnificent Renaissance Teisenhoferhof, completed in 1542, which today houses the Wachau Museum, a branch of the NÖ. Landesmuseum, and houses the wine museum.
Salzstadeln: Located on the Danube, the three Salzstadeln are from the 17th century, which in earlier times supplied the nearby northern Waldviertel with the "white gold" (=salt).
