The village is characterized by the castle rising on a steep hill, which was first mentioned in a document in 1230 and is counted among the most remarkable castle complexes in the area. A small irregular settlement developed near the castle and a burial village in the valley. Within the high ring walls rises the baroque parish church, a former pilgrimage church. Around 1380 Albrechtsberg became an independent parish.

The parish consists of the cadastral parishes Albrechtsberg, Arzwiesen, Attenreith, Els, Eppenberg, Gillaus, Harrau, Kleinheinrichschlag, Marbach an der Kleinen Krems and Purkersdorf.

On a sunny, slightly undulating plateau, in a varied landscape you will find a continuously double-tracked, appealing cross-country ski trail. Easy to master also for beginners and children. The trail leads over long distances through romantic high forest - thus also protected from the wind.

The starting point for the routes over 5, 8 and 12 km is at the western edge of Albrechtsberg.
