Sankt Johann im Saggautal is a municipality in the district of Leibnitz in the Austrian state of Styria. Sankt Johann im Saggautal is located on the Eichberg mountain in southern Styria. The Saggautal flows into the Sulmtal, which extends to Leibnitz.

The parish is situated in the middle of the beautiful and fertile Saggautal valley and thus connects the Greith mountains with the wine-growing area on the Eichberg. The parish was historically and is still today very recognized by the magnificent baroque church, named after St. Johann Baptist. The Saggaubach and the Pößnitzbach with numerous tributaries are the prominent watercourses along the Saggau valley. St. Johann i.S. is situated at 316 m above sea level and impresses with a well-kept still rural landscape with many idyllic places to discover. Here you can still find numerous old so-called "Kellerstöckl'n" as well as the over 250 years old Rauchstubenhaus in Gündorf. Because of its location near the South Styrian Wine Road, St. Johann i.S. is often called the "heart of the South Styrian wine country". The municipality is a central starting point for many unforgettable day trips. An extensive network of hiking and biking trails invites you to explore the gently rolling landscape on foot or by (electric?) bike.

For example, there is the circular hiking trail St. Johann im Saggautal, the Blumenreichweg, the Untergreithweg and the approx. 8 km long circular trail "Weg der Sinne" ("Path of the Senses"), which was built and awarded a prize by the rural youth. This "Path of the Senses" leads with numerous stations along vineyards and through wooded areas to the Ratzberg and over the Eichberg back to the starting point at Josefiplatz in St. Johann i.S. The hikes on these paths offer guests and their families the opportunity to get to know our community in an interesting way and to experience it down-to-earth and up close.
