Neustift im Mühlkreis is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Rohrbach in the upper Mühlviertel. The municipality is located in the judicial district of Rohrbach. Neustift im Mühlkreis is situated at an altitude of 591 m above sea level in the upper Mühlviertel in the west of the district Rohrbach.
Culture and sights
Rannariedl Castle: Rannariedl Castle is located on a steep rocky ridge not far from where the Ranna flows into the Danube. It was built in the 13th century by the "Falkensteiners". A medieval round tower with a wedge roof is located in the north of the complex. The residential wing encloses a courtyard with arcades on three sides. The Gothic castle chapel was used as a parish church from 1783 to 1953. Today the castle is privately owned.
