Neufeld an der Leitha (Hungarian: Lajtaújfalu) in Burgenland in the district Eisenstadt-Umgebung in Austria. The Hungarian place name of the town is Lajtaújfalu, the Croatian place name is Novo Selo. The town is located in northern Burgenland on the river Leitha near the provincial capital Eisenstadt. Neufeld an der Leitha is the only village in the municipality.
Culture and sights
Protestant Parish Church Neufeld an der Leitha: A neo-Gothic sacred building from 1904 with a three-bay nave, a chancel with 5/8 closure and a ridge turret above a high gable facade.
Catholic Parish Church of Neufeld an der Leitha St. Michael: The church was built in 1967.
Landmark Feldkapelle: First mentioned in a document in 1760, the Feldkapelle is one of the oldest surviving buildings in Neufeld.
Clock Tower Monument: The clock tower of the former HITIAG was erected as a monument after the demolition of the same in September 1997. The clock tower was depicted as if the entire factory had sunk and only the same one still stood out. The monument is intended to remind future generations of the industrial heyday of the former industrial stronghold of Neufeld.
1st Burgenland Bakery Museum: The museum building has served as a bakery since before 1899 until today. The working tools on display date from the end of the 19th century to about 1955.
Way of the Cross: it was built by the Neufeld Ratsch'nbuam and leads from the Marterl to the field chapel with a total of 15 stations, the inauguration took place on June 29, 2005. The first 14 stations are based on the traditional representation, while the last station shows the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave, which emerged in the 20th century.
