Weitensfeld im Gurktal is an Austrian market town with 2015 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2023) in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia. 
The village of Weitensfeld is located in the Gurktal valley, the approximately 96 km² large municipal area extends over an altitude of 700 to 1700 m to the southern 
Wimitz mountains to the south and the Gurktal Alps to the north. 

Culture and sights

Parish church of St. John the Evangelist in Weitensfeld: first mentioned in a document in 1285, former moated fortified church with a round defense tower from the beginning of the 16th century.
Filial church of St. Magdalena in Weitensfeld: the oldest preserved stained glass window in Austria, the Romanesque Magdalenenscheibe, comes from this church and was created 
around 1170 (there is a replica in the church, the original is in the Diocesan Museum in Klagenfurt).
