Hohentauern is a municipality with 380 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in the district of Murtal in Styria. Hohentauern is located at the Triebener-Tauern Pass in the Rottenmanner Tauern. The village of Hohentauern lies at 1274 m above sea level. The highest elevation is the Große Bösenstein (2448 m) to the west, to the east are the Gamskögel (2386 m).
