Heiterwang is a municipality with 533 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2022) in the district of Reutte in Tyrol (Austria). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Reutte. Heiterwang is located at 994 m above sea level south of the district capital Reutte at the beginning of Zwischentoren in a valley widening at the Heiterwanger See, which is connected with the Plansee by a canal.

Culture and sights

    Catholic parish church Our Lady of the Assumption: The parish church Our Lady goes back to a chapel of the 14th century. A Liebfrauenkirche was mentioned in 1423, built between 1480 and 1490 probably by Hans Räffl. During the Schmalkaldic War, large parts of the church were destroyed, but the chancel and tower were preserved in any case. The nave was rebuilt in the 16th century. A total restoration took place around 1750. Further ones followed in the 20th century.
