Behamberg is a municipality in the district of Amstetten in Lower Austria. Behamberg covers 20.26 km² and is located in the Mostviertel.
The municipality is located a few kilometers east of the city of Steyr.
n ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. According to aerial photographs taken in the 1970s and
prospection by magnetic field measurement and ground penetrating radar in 2018 on the occasion of the plan to build a new soccer pitch, there is evidence
for a Roman settlement in the ground.
The name Behamberg first appears in a document around 1082. Around 1254, King Ottokar divides Upper Austria and Lower Austria;
Behamberg becomes part of Upper Austria. Since the Hungarian King Corvinus occupied the area in 1490, Behamberg has belonged to Lower Austria
became part of Lower Austria, as it was incorporated into Corvinus' area of occupation.
